Brian Garrett, PGA

Head Golf Professional


Brian Garrett began his golf career as a member of the cart staff at the Muncie Elks Country Club in Muncie, Ind., under PGA Professional Brian Hill. As a junior golfer, he played on the IGA Junior Tour and competed in several state amateur events. He is a 2001 graduate of Anderson University where he majored in Political Science and History. He was also a four-year member of the Anderson University Men's Golf team before turning pro in 2002. Brian has several runner up finishes in The Indiana PGA Secton including 2010 Southern Open, 2011 Monticello Open, and the 2011 Indiana PGA Pro Am. Brian also won the 2004 WRTV 6 Indiana Shootout. He has been with RN Thompson Golf for eight years at both Eagle Pointe Golf Resort in Bloomington, Ind., and at Keys Gate Golf Club in Homestead, Fla. He moved to Southern Dunes Golf Course in 2003 where he worked under PGA Professional David Miner. Brian is a graduate of the PGA PGM program and a member of the Professional Golfers Association. Brian, his wife Brianna along with their son Lane live in the Southern Dunes Golf Course Community.  

Kurt Schier

Director of Instruction

Kurt has been a resident of Greenwood for his entire life. He started playing golf at the age of 8 after his father had introduced him to the game. He played high school golf at Center Grove where he played varsity all four years. He received a scholarship to play collegiate golf at Limestone College in South Carolina. Upon completion of college, Kurt played the mini tour circuits in Florida for two years, and also played on the Ben Hogan Tour, now the Nationwide Tour, for one year. Teaching has always been his passion so he decided to get into the golf business to educate and help people play this great game. He was the assistant professional at Smock Golf Course for six years, and was the 1995 Indiana PGA Assistant’s Champion. He represented the state of Indiana at the National PGA Assistant’s Championship at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where he placed eighteenth. Kurt decided to specialize in teaching, so he opened up the Kurt Schier Golf Academy in 1997. His biggest enjoyment has been the consistent placement of his junior players with college scholarships. He is currently the coach to Walker Cup Team Member, Patrick Rodgers. Patrick is also the number four ranked amateur in the world and is playing golf at Stanford. Kurt’s dedication to teaching is unmatched, and can help every golfer he teaches to achieve their maximum potential. 

Chris Clemens
Teaching Professional, NCAA Coach, Certified Club Performance Fitting Specialist

Chris is an Indianapolis native and grew up on Pleasant Run Golf Course, graduating from Beech Grove H.S. and the Univ. of Indianapolis.  Chris holds every golf record at Beech Grove H.S.  Upon completing his BA in Marketing at UIndy Chris had the lowest career scoring average in school history and lead the country in birdies per round his senior season.  As an amateur Chris won 6 Indiana Golf Association titles and has won 3 Indiana PGA Events since turning professional in 2009.
Chris was the Founder and Head Coach of the Christel House High School Golf program and the Head Coach for Speedway HS Girls Golf program.  Chris is currently the Assistant Golf Coach for the Men's and Women's program at DePauw University where he works with 3-time NCAA National Coach of the Year Vince Lazar.  Chris has worked heavily with junior players and was named an honorable mention as one of US Kids Golf Top 50 Teachers for kids.  Chris enjoys being a mentor leader to his students which includes helping students achieve a high GPA in the classroom, making the right steps towards their next level and living a balanced lifestyle.

Chris was formally the Teaching Professional at Dye's Walk CC and spent three years as a club fitter and merchandiser for Nike Golf.  Chris spent six years working with 2010 Indiana PGA Instructor of the Year Scott Downing and has spent one season at KSGA learning and teaching with Director of Instruction Kurt Schier. Chris is also a Certified Club Performance Fitting Specialist.
Chris and wife Sarah currently reside on the south-side of Indianapolis and are expecting their first child in the summer of 2012.

Cameron Marine
Assistant Golf Professional

Cameron joins the Southern Dunes Staff from Shady Hills Golf Course in Marion, Indiana where he worked as a Golf Professional teaching and running the operation.  Cameron is entering the PGA Apprentice Program this spring and is aspiring to become a PGA Member. Cameron attenede school and played golf at Trine University, and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan.  Cameron lives with his wife Laura in Indianapolis.
